ROUND ROCK (KJCE) -- Construction at Old Settlers Boulevard will create overnight detours on Interstate 35 this weekend in Round Rock.

Crews will close the northbound lanes Friday night beginning at 10 p.m., and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane. Then, beginning Saturday night at 10 p.m., the southbound lanes will close completely. Frontage road lane reductions will begin at 8 p.m. in both directions both nights.

Officials say the work will be completed by 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The work is part of a $12.4 million project to rebuild the I-35/FM 3406 intersection, including new U-turn bridges, frontage road improvements, and pedestrian accommodations. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to wrap up later this year.
