City holding "pop-in" meetings on Corridor Mobility Program

AUSTIN (KJCE) -- The City of Austin is holding a series of educational "pop-in" meetings on the Corridor Mobility Program.

The projects, part of the 2016 Mobility Bond, are being held in each of the corridors eligible for construction funding as part of the program. The 2016 Mobility Bond dedicates $482 million to corridor improvement projects.

Today's "pop-in" is on Airport Boulevard at the Walgreens store, 1144 Airport Boulevard, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Each pop-in event consists of an information table set up in high foot-traffic locations, where people can drop by at their convenience to learn more about the Corridor Mobility Program, talk with team members about the Corridor Mobility Plans, and provide feedback and ask questions.

Staff at the "pop-in" events will not be available for interviews. Media is invited to attend the pop-in at any point today or during another event, but should contact Sara Behunek, Corridor Program Office Communications Manager, to arrange for an interview.

Other meetings scheduled include:

  • South Lamar Boulevard: Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wheatsville Co-op (4001 S. Lamar Boulevard ) and 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at L.A. Fitness (4001 S. Lamar Boulevard )
  • Burnet Road: Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Wal-Mart (2525 W. Anderson Lane)
  • East MLK Jr. Boulevard: Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at East Communities YMCA (5315 Ed Bluestein Boulevard )
  • North Lamar Boulevard: Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lowe’s (13000 N I-35 Svc Road SB)
  • Slaughter Lane: Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Wal-Mart (9300 S IH 35 Frontage Rd. b)
  • Guadalupe Street: Oct. 10,from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at University Co-op (2246 Guadalupe Street)
  • E. Riverside Drive: Oct. 12, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Walgreens (1920 East Riverside Drive, Bldg. B)
  • William Cannon Drive: Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Big Lots (801 E William Cannon Drive #135b)

Information at the pop-ins is be available in English and Spanish, and interpretation services are being provided.

To complement these in-person meetings, the City of Austin is also posting materials online at www.AustinTexas.gov/CorridorMobility as they are available.
