AUSTIN (KJCE) -- Gas prices continue to fall slightly across the state, according to the latest numbers from AAA Texas.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel across the Austin area is $2.23, down two cents from last week. Statewide, the average remains flat at $2.27 a gallon; nationally, the average is down three cents this week to $2.49. Year-over-year, the national average is 34 cents higher than this time in 2016.

The state's cheapest gas can be found in San Antonio, at an average of $2.16 a gallon; the most expensive can be found in Midland at $2.52 a gallon.

AAA says motorists won't find any significant savings at the pump this holiday season, with prices expected to be the highest in November and December since 2014. Today, motorists can find gas for $2.50 or less at 63 percent of gas stations across the United States.

When it comes to Texas, all markets across the state saw average gas prices decrease, with the exception of Dallas and Fort Worth. Both markets experienced a slight increase following the busy Thanksgiving travel holiday. Odessa remained the same when compared to last week.
